Every NHL game since 2023, replayed event by event. We made it for people who like hockey and were never shown how to read it.

The puck only appears where something happened — a shot, a hit, a faceoff. The feed we read records those moments and nothing in between, so that is all we draw.

What we counted

Our own measurements rather than the league’s, over 4,235 games, up to 5 October 2026. Each one opens the lesson behind it.

Score effectsPer 60 minutes of even-strength play a team takes 64 shot attempts while trailing, 59 while the score is level, and 53 while leading.

The attacking zoneAfter a face-off in one team’s end, the team attacking that end takes 1.42 shot attempts before the next whistle, against 0.76 for the team defending it — across 167,163 draws.

Every game each team played, newest first. Arizona became Utah in 2024 — both are here, because both played.

What this does and does not claim

Regular season and playoffs, three seasons.2023-24 through 2025-26. Other competitions in the archive — preseason, all-star, Olympics and 4 Nations — are deliberately left out of every number here. They are different competitions, and averaging across them would describe none. They are on the calendar, counted separately and never added to an NHL total.
A replay, not live coverage.Every game here is over. Nothing is fetched from the league while you watch; the events were pulled once, checked against the league's own boxscore, and stored.
Nothing is modelled or invented.Every mark traces to a recorded event. There is no expected-goals number, because that would be our estimate presented as the game's fact.
We say what we could not read.Games we hold but cannot show are listed anyway, with the check that stopped them. A schedule that hid them would be a map of our successes.
